National Military Academy of Afghanistan: the applicant's brief

6 findings
  1. The short answer

The National Military Academy of Afghanistan was a public military academy in Afghanistan that trained officers for the Afghan National Army and Afghan Air Force while also awarding a four-year bachelorโ€™s degree. It suited students seeking military officer training as well as a college-level degree, but the academy was officially shut down after August 15, 2021.

  2. What you can study

The academy focused on four-year military development and officer commissioning for the Afghan National Army and the Afghan Air Force. Its mission was to produce officers for the Afghan Armed Forces who also completed a four-year college-level bachelorโ€™s degree. The programme catalogue is no longer active because the academy was officially shut down.

  3. Getting in

Admission was tied to military officer training rather than a standard civilian university intake. Anyone checking current admission possibilities should confirm directly through the official site or the relevant Afghan authorities, because the academy is no longer operating.

  4. What it costs

The university does not publish a fee for international students; confirm the current rate with its admissions office. Living costs would depend on where a student studies and the cost of local accommodation, food, and transport, but no current institutional cost information is available because the academy is closed.

  5. Coming from abroad

The language of instruction is not published. A student moving from abroad would need to confirm the language used, whether the academy is operating, and how military eligibility, visa, and degree recognition would work before applying.

  6. How it compares

Afghanistan has 40 universities, and this institution was unlike a typical civilian university because it was a public military academy with an officer-commissioning mission. For applicants interested in military service and a degree together, it stood apart from the countryโ€™s broader university sector, but it is no longer open.
