Sree Sankaracharya University of Sanskrit
Sree Sankaracharya University of Sanskrit is a public university in India for students looking for study in Sanskrit and related humanities fields. It suits applicants who want a university with regional campuses across Kerala and a focus on languages, social sciences, and fine arts.
SSUS offers education in Sanskrit, other Indian languages, foreign languages, Social Sciences, and Fine Arts. If you are looking for a university with a broad humanities and arts focus rather than a technical or professional catalogue, these are the main areas to consider.
International applicants should apply through the university’s official website and check the current admission rules, document requirements, deadlines, and any programme-specific entry conditions there. The university’s language of instruction is not stated, so confirm that directly with the admissions office before applying.
The university does not publish a tuition fee for international students; confirm the current rate with its admissions office. You should also budget separately for living costs in Kerala, which will depend on housing, food, transport, and personal expenses.
The university does not state its language of instruction or international student support details, so confirm both before you apply. If you are moving from abroad, check visa requirements, accepted entry documents, campus location options across Kerala, and whether your chosen programme is available at the campus you plan to attend.
India has 475 universities, and SSUS stands out within that group as a public Sanskrit university with a clear humanities profile rather than a general multi-discipline offer. Its eight regional campuses across Kerala make it different from a single-site institution, and its published focus on Sanskrit, other languages, social sciences, and fine arts helps narrow it to students with those interests.
Written from this university's catalogue entry and its cited encyclopedia summary. Figures are only shown where the institution or a cited source publishes them — always confirm fees and entry requirements with the university itself before applying.
