Princeton University: the applicant's brief

6 findings
  1. The short answer

Princeton University is a research university in Princeton, New Jersey, and it suits students who want to study at a long-established institution in the United States. It is a good fit for applicants who want a U.S. university in a large national higher education system and can confirm programme options and admissions details on the university website.

  2. What you can study

The university is described as a research university, but a subject-by-subject programme list is not published in the information available here. Check the official website for the current degree catalogue and the specific field you want to study.

  3. Getting in

International applicants should apply through the university’s official admissions process and check the website for entry requirements, deadlines, document lists, and whether additional materials are needed. The university’s public information here does not give programme-specific admissions rules, so confirm those details directly with admissions before applying.

  4. What it costs

Tuition is not published in the information available here, so confirm the current cost with the admissions office. Living costs in Princeton and the wider New Jersey area should also be budgeted separately, including housing, food, transport, and personal expenses.

  5. Coming from abroad

The language of instruction is not stated here, so confirm it on the official website before you apply. If you are moving from abroad, check visa steps, English-language requirements if any, housing options, and whether your chosen programme has extra document or deadline rules.

  6. How it compares

Among 2,515 universities in the United States, Princeton stands out as a research university with a long institutional history and a location in New Jersey. That makes it more relevant for applicants who want a major U.S. research environment than for those looking for a smaller specialist institution.

Written from this university's catalogue entry and its cited encyclopedia summary. Figures are only shown where the institution or a cited source publishes them β€” always confirm fees and entry requirements with the university itself before applying.
